Are Prices Fixed or Negotiable?

November 21, 2004

by Kit Cassingham

From "Ask Kit!":
Q: Are inn's generally negotiable like houses are on the selling price or is it pretty much "firm" on what is being offered?

A: I think most inn's prices are negotiable. Each situation will be different. You need to apply your knowledge to the situation to decide what you can afford and negotiate from there.

There is more to evaluating an inn than price too:
* how strong is the cash flow
* how much maintenance is needed
* what renovations are needed to bring it up to your ideal operating standard
* how's the location
* how far reaching is their marketing
