Has Anyone Heard About a Hotel That Checks Out Cats?

November 11, 2005

Knowing and developing your market niche is key to success as a bed and breakfast innkeeper. Developing a guest experience that will attract the guests you wan to serve and discouraging those who won't appreciate what you have developed makes your life easier as an innkeeper and helps guests enjoy themselves.

Years ago, I saw a news feature about a quaint little hotel that actually rented rooms with cats. Each cat was paired with a different room. The cat lived in the room and came as a "guest amenity."

From what I observed, the guest loved this. Some guests, especially lonely business travelers, went out of their way to stay at this hotel so they could stay with a "friend." (People who didn't like this presumably stayed at other facilities).

Repeat guests came to reserve specific rooms because of specific cats.

I don't remember the name of this hotel and haven't been able to find any information about them on line.

Does anyone know anything about such a facility?
